The Nodes and Eclipses in 2025: A Celestial Shift
Don’t believe everything you see during eclipse season.
2025 brings a significant shift in the nodal axis, as the north node of the moon moves into Pisces, marking the beginning of a new eclipse cycle in the Pisces-Virgo axis. This transition signals a period of growth and release focused on these signs, with the eclipse seasons acting as catalysts for change. The North Node (NN) in Pisces and the South Node (SN) in Virgo shape the themes that will unfold over the next couple of years, inviting us to embrace imagination and intuition while releasing perfectionism and order.
Understanding the Pisces-Virgo Axis
The NN in Pisces hungers for creativity, spiritual exploration, and a connection to the unseen realms. It thrives on intuition, fantasy, and faith. The SN in Virgo, on the other hand, calls for the release of excessive details, over-analysis, and the pursuit of unattainable perfection. This nodal shift encourages us to loosen our grip on control and instead trust in the flow of life.
Virgo, known for its diligence and meticulous nature, may resist this shift. It thrives on structure and logic, while Pisces prefers a more fluid, open-ended approach. This dynamic tension can create a push-pull experience where we feel the need to plan and organise but are simultaneously asked to surrender to the unknown. The challenge is to balance these energies—using Virgo’s discernment without becoming trapped in the details, while allowing Pisces' dreams to take shape without losing direction.
Eclipses in 2025
Eclipses serve as powerful portals of transformation, often accelerating changes that have been brewing beneath the surface. In 2025, we experience four eclipses along the Pisces-Virgo axis, with one last eclipse in Aries before that cycle is complete:
14 March – Lunar Eclipse in Virgo 25°57’
29 March – Solar Eclipse in Aries 9°00’ (last eclipse on the Aries/Libra axis)
7 September – Lunar Eclipse in Pisces 15°23’
21 September – Solar Eclipse in Virgo 29°05’.
While everyone will feel these eclipses to some extent, people with planets or angles in Pisces and Virgo will experience the most profound effects. These are moments of heightened energy, urgency, and reactivity, often propelling us into new realities with little warning.
The Dragon Awakens: Navigating the Nodal Shift
In Vedic astrology, the North Node (Rahu) and South Node (Ketu) are seen as two parts of the same celestial dragon. It’s important to remember that they are intrinsically connected—one cannot be worked with independently of the other. While the NN in Pisces urges us toward dreams and transcendence, the SN in Virgo ensures that we don’t completely detach from reality.
A conscious approach involves engaging with both ends of the nodal axis. Outside of eclipse seasons, we can work deliberately with these energies—embracing Pisces' creativity and intuition while using Virgo’s practical skills to ground our vision. March is an especially dynamic month as we experience both a Virgo lunar eclipse and an Aries solar eclipse along with other planetary factors in play. This marks the final eclipse on the Aries-Libra axis, closing out a cycle that has focused on themes of self-identity versus relationships. As we move fully into the Pisces-Virgo dynamic, the focus shifts from relational balance to the interplay between spirit and matter.
The Virgo lunar eclipse highlights issues around control, order, and the need to let go of rigid expectations. This is an invitation to trust the process rather than micromanaging every detail. The Aries solar eclipse, being the last in its series, serves as a final push toward asserting individuality before we fully embrace the Pisces-Virgo lessons of surrender and faith.
Sep 2025 Eclipses: From Intuition to Clarity
September brings two eclipses, each with its own flavour and lessons. First up, a North Node lunar eclipse in Pisces on 7/8 September (depending on your timezone). This one leans towards growth and expansion, ruled by Jupiter — strong in Cancer and harmoniously connected to the eclipse itself. It invites you to trust your intuition, even when its logic doesn’t run in straight lines. There’s wisdom here, but you may have to feel your way through rather than think your way there.
Later in the month comes the real headline act: a South Node partial solar eclipse in Virgo on 21/22 September, tightly opposite Saturn. Sitting at the anaretic degree, this eclipse carries a sense of endings, completions, and karmic turning points. It speaks of the (re)birth of the maiden archetype — the Virgoan quest for purity and excellence, “falling in love with perfection” as you shed what no longer aligns. With Mercury in Libra and Venus in Virgo in mutual reception, there’s support for refining your path and creating beauty with precision. This one may feel intense, but it can also be deeply clarifying.
